Zinc Alloy Features Overview
Zinc alloys are made with zinc as the base metal and other elements (such as aluminum, copper, magnesium, etc.) added to enhance the alloy's properties. They possess the following characteristics:
• Low Melting Point: Approximately 385°C, making it easy to cast into molds.
• Good Fluidity: Ideal for die-casting complex and thin-walled precision parts, with smooth surface finishes on castings.
• Excellent Mechanical Properties: Good mechanical properties at room temperature and high wear resistance.
• Ease of Surface Treatment: Can be easily treated with processes like electroplating, spraying, painting, polishing, and grinding.
• Strong Corrosion Resistance: Offers good corrosion resistance in atmospheric environments.
Common Types of Zinc Alloys:
• Zamak 3: Known for good fluidity and mechanical properties, suitable for castings with low mechanical strength requirements, such as toys, light fixtures, and decorations.
• Zamak 5: Has excellent fluidity and mechanical properties, suitable for castings with moderate mechanical strength requirements, such as automotive parts and electromechanical components.
• ZA-8: Offers excellent impact strength and dimensional stability but has poorer fluidity. It is suitable for die-casting small parts with high precision and mechanical strength requirements, such as electrical components.
